Hello
In
case you have not already gathered, my name is Geoff Mastus.
I am
a Business Graduate from James Cook University in Cairns, Far North
Queensland Australia.
Prior
to attending University, I was a Bakery Manager for Woolworths in
South Australia. This career consumed fourteen years of my
life, until (quite fortunately) I became overwhelmed by the
incredible beauty of Far North Queensland while holidaying here and
I gave away the hierarchy, long hours and repetition to move into
paradise.
The
initial intention was to operate The PC Guys
during semester breaks to earn some extra bucks, and then upon
graduating to continue at it until the right job came
along.
Well
I have recently changed my mind, and am now in the process of
building my business into a full time occupation.
At
present my target market is towards those who have had little
exposure to computing, and feel it is about time they jumped onto
the IT bandwagon. A key service I am able to offer is patiently instructing
clients the basic setup, configuration and use of a
PC.
Connecting to the internet and downloading email for instance
can be a huge challenge and I have helped many master this
process.
UPDATE: As my experience
grows so does the range of services I am able to offer. I am now
competent in building small networks, encompassing shared resources
including internet connections and
printers.
As
my experience and resources grow, the intention is to move into
other areas of training. My degree did encompass a number of IT
specific subjects, the majority of which were related to technology
for business. This knowledge will provide a solid foundation
for my eventual entry into providing tuition for computer based
accounting software and possibly a bookkeeping service. I may
also include internet marketing in my portfolio as my overall skill
levels increase. At this stage, the whole thing is in the
process of evolving into whichever area it fits best.
Computing
has been a hobby of mine since the early 90’s and I really enjoy
building, and tuning PC’s. This has allowed me to also offer my
services as a PC repair guy. Thus far the majority of problems
I encounter are software related, although a few hardware faults
have turned into interesting challenges. Upgrading PC’s can be lots
of fun and I am quite confident in my ability to perform this
procedure effectively in both time and cost.
I
feel it is a real shame when I come across a PC someone has had
sitting in their house for a couple of years, and not touched
because of some fault they could not fix and have therefore not
bothered to learn the skills required to enjoy the benefits of a
home computer. If you know of anyone like this, have them give me a
call, I
can help.
Thanks
for visiting!!
